I found a 5 year old Ruby API is there by chance a newer API floating
around?
The PHP code itself used to be an API of sorts (enough for plugins to work),
with a loose definition here:
https://wiki.racktables.org/index.php/RackTablesDevelGuide#API
HTTP interfaces to the PHP code are doable, and I myself had created a few over
years, however, all of these were specialized and proprietary for better or
worse reasons. See also:

Creating a free (as in speech) generic HTTP API would be doable too, but at
this time I am not volunteering for such a project. That said, if you spend the
time writing down and publishing a spec for the API, someone else may be
interested in implementing at least a part of it.
