But I like the history that gets kept, all history for the deleted item should
be moved to a history device or something

Thanks a bunch for looking into this...
I think that if you delete the object, everything linked to the object should
go away...
IP address should be returned to the pool, the rack space should be
available... etc.

Give me your idea on how "deep" data deletion should be, and I will
