Ravi,

GC domain validation is a third (or fourth) step during instance recovery.
In instance recovery gc domain validation comes after second pass recovery
and during gc domain validation SMON isses a recovery lock claim to the IDLM
(now GRD) and recovery process proceeds further.

I see no reason for foreground sessions waiting for GC domain validation..
It could be a bug!

 Friends,

Anyone here had issue with this event.

A scheduled job (dbms_job) , which is calling a purge Stored Proc is found
waiting on this event for a long time - causing some of the sessions wait on
Enq TX-Row lock contention.

Did not get any hits (p1=p2=p3=0).

10.1.0.5 on RH Linux - 2.4.21-40.ELhugemem #1 SMP

Wondering if the masters can shed some light on what this does…….

Regards,
Ravi.
