Greetings All -
Oracle is making a big mistake for not sponsoring these great events such
as RackAttack. They should know that in the Midwest area where I do most of
my IT consulting, this big trend of companies that either have moved away
from Oracle or they in the process of migrating to other open source
databases. I know even some of my DBA friends who used to work for Oracle,
have left Oracle..
Someone in Oracle at the higher level is not looking at the big picture. I
am almost certain Oracle will loose a big chunk of database market within
5yrs. I've worked with Oracle products for about 15yrs now, I really
believe that Oracle could have been the leader in the Cloud by now, but
amazingly enough a retail & a non IT company such as Amazon came out of
nowhere and ate their lunch. You can keep this email for the record and
mark my words what is going to happen in 5yrs from now..

So the only chance to organize the RACAttack at OOW is to set a time and
attend OTN lounge with RACAttack Ninja advertisements and just be there
with our Clusterware installed laptops or with cloud accounts and invite
participants just to be there to discuss and practice some RAC staff. So
for me, plan is:
- Set a date/time (NOT IN (‘Sunday’,’Thursday’). First part of
the day is preferable
- Create list of volunteers who will be at OTN lounge for 4-6
hours
- Create list of practical cases to show and discuss with
participants

IMHO - Instead of helping participants to install the Clusterware and
create 2 node RAC database (if we will not have plenty of time), we can
prepare some hands-on practical scenarios or demonstrate some 12cR2 new
features
Please guys share your opinion and let's create different scenarios for
participants and bring our laptops with already installed GI and rock at
OOW17! :)
