Good morning all, I just posted some new pics of the completed(?) python at: http://rjs.org/bent.htm Paint, front gears and front brake added. The front brake is a big help! The 3 chainrings help even out the cadence at speeds other than cruising. I had found that pushing hard in middle ring up a 10%+ grade was too difficult to keep upright. I tipped and cracked the original welded brake post off of the front. Notice that it is now an extension of the pivot; I replace the lower bolt with a 5/16 hardened stud and drilled the brake to fit over it. I rode several miles Sunday and had to do exhibitions for various kids (and adults) along the way. I'm still trying to get the feel for hands-off - I can ride on wide streets for a few seconds before having to correct suddenly. I do now feel a distinct competition for control between hands and feet, and I ride with just fingertips on the brake levers. I need to move the seat forward about 2-3cm; my legs extend well now, but I feel much more in my knees and lower quads with the reclined position. Scooting forward on the seat puts more force/work back into the hamstrings/glutes.
