Hello Gerald,
I just want to agrue your last statement: leaning can have a big impact on a
comfortable ride. It might depend on what kind of leaning system you go for,
but if you use the Jetrike's mechanism it can give you half the bump you would
encouter as if you were not having leaning. Because if one wheel goes up over a
bump and the other not, the center (your seat) will only go up half the height
of the bump. Vi's kind of leaning with a pedal axle is even more effective in
that way I think.
Besides that, I think having really fat tires like 2.5" does help a lot too.
Personally, having both fat tires and leaning on my trike, I never felt the
need for suspension. The only reason I did draw a design with both leaning and
supension was that the heavy forces from my trailer wrecked my trike. See

wanted to build (though, not sure if I will ever find the time again).

A simple test for a leaning trike. Made with some Lego bits that were laying
around. I got the idea from this link:

Onderwerp: [python] Re: Rear suspension and the rubber block ?
Gerald
I ride over poor surfaces but no the kind that would be smoothed out much by
having the whole rear end sprung.
I was hoping that by using the ' bike ' suspension for each rear wheel it would
reduce the individual load on the pivot components compare with both wheels
pivoted and sprung from one point ?
As I cannot ride a Python bike and only a trike I have not considered leaning ,
or course leaning on it's own is not suspension it just reduces the cornering
forces and increases complexity and weight.
