Hello new friends, i am new on this list. few months ago, as i was visiting Spezi, i met a guy and his girl, Uwe friend chris. Flevobikes and trikes' expert and fan. Uwe was presenting his last invention. I got intrested in this system because of my two new friends, lovely personns by the way, not only genius " bastler". Since, i haven't stop to push my curiusity and learn more and more about the subject. How can see the finished work from: - Laurent Dechenne from Belgium - Torben Scheel from Denmark - Jürgen Maier from Germany - Alain Branca from Corsica - Euardo LP jr from Brazil - Michael Rienstra from California - Mike Channon from Canada - Burket Kniveton from California - Stefan Knorr from Germany - Scott Rose from Washington; How can i see photos from others constructions ? how can i pick up from your experiences ? Do you have an yearly meeting like the Velomobile have ? Thank you in advance for all the informations helping me to discover your world. I am planning to start constructring a working flevotrike able to carry 250 kg. Jürgen, told me, Gavin Katts has constructed something which could be a model for me. Gevin, wo bis du ? où es tu ? if you read my message, i would love to get some advise from you. On internet i found some models made in States, Hauler trike hpv, or something like... Gretings Bruno h.vaneerden@xxxxxxxxxxxx a écrit : Hello Thomas, i think you are right. In the firts attempts to ride the flevobike i used handlebars at the rear part. These bars helped me to support my upperbody, it gave me the steadiness i needed to steer with the hips and lowerbody. Actually i kept them on the bike for almost two years before they started to annoy me and i removed them. On the python i don't have them mounted, and i don't need them (maybe because of the flevo-exercises?). Have fun and good and save rides. Today I circled 3 hours in the park. my son enjoyed seeing father like 3 years old. He want's a python too. :-) And he insisted it should be a python :-)). not just recumbant. Maybe he is right. My first try, really just a few 100 meters, was without handle bar. ...and brakes. Now I attached one handlebar to mount back brake and the gear shifter. And now, with the new situation, whenever I touched the hadlebar, I tiped over. :-I But then after 3 hour in the park, I have learned to USE the handlebar. It is attached to the seat. So I can actually use it to support - with my hands - the body steering. Or you say: I learned body steering because of the handlebar. But I don't think so. I know I sound rediculous trying to discuss with you guys. You have really experience. And I know that is needed :-). But without using the handlebar, I cannot role the bike without padelling. I have tried both!! So I think: handlebars are good. And I could imagine, that the same applies at high speed. I have no idea though, how it would feel, when the handlebars would be attached to the front part. It would certainly not support in the same way!? I definetly need a propper seat. I have quickly constructed something from an old camping chair supported by a fork. I expect the 'propper' seat will give me more steering control. .......Maybe then, I don't feel the benefit of the handlebars an longer. :-( Most important: It was great fun. It's improving. I can still dream about it - because I am far from perfect on the bike-, but I can already imagine what it will be like. :-) Thanks for sharing the python idea!! No, there is no dirt coming from the front wheel. Only during rain weather my legs come somewhat more wet from on the inside, of drops that fly sideways from the fender. But it is not something grave. Since I have big apples (406-50) mounted, the inside of my leg touch the tire side wall while pedalling, very minimally, and there is no sign off wear on my pants yet (2000km with big apples now). Because Mike sits lower, he had more trouble on his bike with touching the tires, so he made two aluminium plates (if you look at his project picture, then it is ones with the big holes in) on each side to protect his pants from wear. May be you might have the same trouble as Mike? Dirk > > Cheers, > Jürgen. > > On 27.08.2007 21:57, dirk.bonne@xxxxxxx wrote: >> Ok, that was not what I meant. I forgot 'bout the fender stuff really.
