Nico, This response isn't about seats for Pythons, so much as recumbent seats generally. The best angle between the torso and the legs seems to be 120 degrees, +/- 5 degrees. That is the angle between the seat back (ignoring any lumbar support bend) and the line from the base of the seat to the bottom bracket. The lightest and stiffest seat seems to be one-piece fibreglass or carbon fibre shell. There are several types available to buy. But they tend to collect sweat. Some of them have drillings and foam designed to allow air to reach the back. Mesh over a tube frame is light and cool, and gives fair support, particularly if you keep the mesh tight and bend the frame so as to support the lumbar area (lower back), as Greenspeed now do. Australia is hot, and we use mesh seats a lot. Beginning recumbent riders seem to like head supports, but experienced recumbent riders tend not to fit them, or use them if they are fitted. You get accustomed to holding your head up, and the support transmits bumps from the frame into your head.
