I built my first recumbent bike when I was 15. It was made from a 4x4
(yes wood) and the back end of a 10speed. With lawnmower wheels on a 4'
2x4(yes more wood) It had the look of a goofy tadpole design and it was
very heavy. but it was fun for a while.
Over the years I have been wanting to build a better one. I had decided
upon a front wheel drive to remove the need such a long chain and with
the steering behind the seat so my legs would stay on track with the
cranks even during a hard turn.
I was suprised to find the python design and it being freely published.
I like the design except for one thing. It pivots before the seat.
That will prevent a constent leg to peddal alligment during turning.
I have done some searching and have found one other design with the
pivot behind the seat. (banana Peal)
I was wondering why there were not more designs with this type of
steering. The production bike is said to be stable enough.
I would like an opinion on the matter. Has any one built a python with
this type of steering?
