26" wheels are definitely more practical - they're the standard for
mountainbikes so most tires are available for it, and you could buy a
new tire even in timbuktu (I think ;)). 24" tires will only be easily
available in countries where bicycles are used widely. Also, you can
find nicer 26" wheels than 24" wheels.
