I made some investigations with my CAD program. Calculated the rising of the FW axle with different head angles and different rotations around the steering pivot. This is the result so far: head angle 90 deg =============== 40 deg 00 mm 30 deg 00 mm 20 deg 00 mm 10 deg 00 mm head angle 70 deg =============== 40 deg 23.3925 mm 30 deg 13.1648 mm 20 deg 05.8831 mm 10 deg 01.4449 mm head angle 65 deg =============== 40 deg 26.0956 mm 30 deg 14.5890 mm 20 deg 06.4502 mm 10 deg 01.6168 mm head angle 60 deg =============== 40 deg 27.1984 mm 30 deg 15.1237 mm 20 deg 06.6864 mm 10 deg 01.6617 mm head angle 55 deg =============== 40 deg 26.6483 mm 30 deg 14.7294 mm 20 deg 06.5014 mm 10 deg 01.6185 mm head angle 50 deg =============== 40 deg 24.4991 mm 30 deg 13.4021 mm 20 deg 05.8316 mm 10 deg 01.4640 mm head angle 40 deg =============== 40 deg 15.4889 mm 30 deg 08.1786 mm 20 deg 03.4939 mm 10 deg 00.8647 mm As one can see, there is a maximum around 60 deg head angle. So the "sweet spot" of stability will be close to 60 deg. I am not good at mathematics and maybe someone of you can calculate the exact angle. If not I will continue with my empiric research. so long, Jürgen. ============================================================ This is the Python Mailinglist at freelists.org Listmaster: Juergen Mages jmages@xxxxxx ============================================================
