Herbert Neher of the Karlsruhe recumbent scene did this and is quite happy
cruising south-french canals with it.

I imagine to have a kind of "red button" which automatically inflates the
floaters in a "M" designed James bond gadget vehicle style while going down
the beach and which just start to work wehn hitting the water.
another item is the drive: how put the power efficiently to the water for
propulsion?
propellers are for me no option, for I often go to flat streams with lots of
weeds.
Wheels like a Missisippi-Steamer?
kind of Water-drive?
