HBO-lector verbindingsofficier van kennis
Het onderzoek dat lectoren en hun kenniskringen doen legt de verbinding van
kennis naar toepassingen in de praktijk bij het bedrijfsleven en de non-profit
sector. Het hbo neemt daarmee een eigen plaats in binnen het kennislandschap
van Nederland, naast universiteiten, UMC’s en publieke kennisorganisaties. Dat
blijkt uit het rapport Praktijkgericht onderzoek bij lectoraten van hogescholen
dat het Rathenau Instituut 25 mei uitbracht.

Rathenau Instituut levert input aan Tweede Kamer voor Algemeen Overleg
wetenschapsbeleid
Op de agenda van het AO Wetenschapsbeleid stonden een aantal rapporten van het
Rathenau Instituut. Bijvoorbeeld het rapport Totale investeringen in Wetenschap
en INnovatie 2014-2020, dat 14 april verscheen. Het instituut wees daarin op
het feit dat de overheidssteun voor R&D uit de pas loopt met de aantrekkende
economie.

Publicatie: nieuw protocol onderzoeksorganisaties
Het Rathenau Instituut heeft een protocol opgesteld voor de monitoring en
evaluatie van de zes ‘TO2-instellingen’. Dit zijn Nederlandse publieke
onderzoeksorganisaties, zoals bijvoorbeeld TNO, die toegepast onderzoek doen in
gebieden als energie, lucht- en ruimtevaart, landbouw en voeding, water,
maritieme technologie en defensie.

Checklist voor een verantwoorde inzet van big data
De explosief groeiende hoeveelheid digitale gegevens in onze samenleving is de
‘nieuwe olie’ van innovatie. Maar big data roept ook vragen op. Bijvoorbeeld
over de kwaliteit van de gebruikte data, het eigenaarschap ervan, en over de
beveiliging van gegevens. Dan hebben we het nog niet eens over de
privacybescherming.

Rapport Werken aan de robotsamenleving op agenda Tweede Kamer
Het rapport ‘Werken aan de robotsamenleving’ stond donderdag 28 april op de
agenda van de Tweede Kamercommissie voor Sociale Zaken en Werkgelegenheid. In
zijn reactie looft minister Asscher het Rathenau Instituut, en beschrijft diens
inspanningen als: "bijzonder waardevol".

Amerikaanse ontwikkelaars, wetenschappers en NGO’s denken dat consumenten
straks zoveel slimme apparaten hebben, dat ze geen overzicht kunnen houden op
wat er met hun data gebeurt. Zij zijn daarom op zoek naar nieuwe
