Het Landelijk Netwerk Vrouwelijke Hoogleraren en OPZIJ lanceren leerstoel voor
gendergerelateerd onderzoek.
Nederland scoort slecht als het aankomt op gelijke kansen in de wetenschap.
Daar waar het begin van de pijplijn voor meer dan de helft met vrouwelijke
studenten is gevuld, blijft er aan het einde een schamele 18% vrouwelijke
hoogleraren over. De uitstroom van vrouwen uit de wetenschap is groot. Daardoor
blijft veel talent onbenut. LNVH en OPZIJ lanceren daarom een gezamenlijke
wisselleerstoel ter bevordering van de doorstroom van vrouwen in de wetenschap.
De LNVH OPZIJ wisselleerstoel is in het leven geroepen om een impuls te geven
aan de carrière van vrouwelijke wetenschappers in de hoogste echelons van de
Nederlandse wetenschap. Daarnaast is de wisselleerstoel specifiek bedoeld om
onderzoek naar gendergerelateerde thema's te ondersteunen en zichtbaarder te
maken.
De leerstoel heeft een looptijd van twee jaar en dient als opstap naar een
gewoon hoogleraarschap, aansluitend op de wisselleerstoelperiode. Voor de
leerstoel komen alle wetenschapsgebieden in aanmerking. Het onderzoek van de
leerstoelhouder dient een duidelijk aantoonbare link te hebben met
gendervraagstukken. De leerstoelhouder stelt zelf het specifieke thema
(leeropdracht) van de leerstoel voor.
In 2017 is het honderd jaar geleden dat de eerste vrouwelijke hoogleraar,
Johanna Westerdijk, werd benoemd. We staan dit jaar dan ook stil bij 100 jaar
vrouwelijke hoogleraren en vieren dat met allerlei initiatieven. Het LNVH en
OPZIJ willen de aandacht voor vrouwen in de wetenschap ook na het
Westerdijkjaar vasthouden. Het lanceren van deze wisselleerstoel past in die
gedachte.

Kandideren voor de wisselleerstoel kan vanaf vandaag. Deadline voor indiening:
13 juli. Nog in het Westerdijkjaar zal de eerste LNVH OPZIJ
wisselleerstoelhouder worden benoemd.

Het LNVH
De stichting Landelijk Netwerk Vrouwelijke Hoogleraren (LNVH) is een netwerk-,
lobby en kennisorganisatie met als doel het bevorderen van een evenredige
vertegenwoordiging van vrouwen binnen de universitaire gemeenschap. De
stichting werd op 9 augustus 2001 officieel opgericht. Op dat moment was het
percentage vrouwelijke hoogleraren in Nederland 6,5%, anno 2017 is het 18%. Bij
het LNVH zijn momenteel 1138 wetenschapsters aangeslotenen: 835 hoogleraren en
303 universitair hoofddocenten (peildatum maart 2017). Het LNVH richt zich met
name op de uitvoering van zijn kernprojecten. Enerzijds betreft het projecten
die gericht zijn op capaciteitsversterking van vrouwelijke wetenschappers,
anderzijds betreft het projecten die gericht zijn op beleidsbeïnvloeding. Beide
beogen een evenredige deelname van vrouwen aan de hogere posities binnen de

OPZIJ
Opzij is een maandblad met een unieke positionering in de lezersmarkt:

research.
The Netherlands still has a long way to go as it comes to equal opportunities
in academia. Although more than half of the pipeline consists of female
students, women ultimately account for a mere 18% of all professorships. Many
women are leaving academia at early stages in their career, leading to a waste
of academic talent. LNVH and OPZIJ have therefore decided to launch a joint
chair to promote the advancement of women in academia.
The purpose of the LNVH OPZIJ chair is to further promote the careers of female
researchers in the top echelons of academia in the Netherlands. It is also
specifically meant to support research on gender-related issues and to improve
the visibility of such research.
The appointment is for a two-year period and should preferable lead to an
appointment as full professor immediately thereafter. The chair is open to
female researchers in all academic disciplines. The chair holder's research
must have a clearly identified link with gender-related issues. The chair
holders themselves will propose the specific theme (field of
study/leeropdracht) of the chair.
The first female professor in the Netherlands, Johanna Westerdijk, was
appointed one hundred years ago this year. We are celebrating 100 years of
women professors with a series of events and other initiatives. The LNVH and
OPZIJ aim to maintain the generated attention for women in academia even after
this anniversary year. By launching this LNVH OPZIJ chair, they are acting on
these intentions.

Applications for the LNVH OPZIJ chair will be accepted as of today. The
application deadline is 13th of  July. The first LNVH OPZIJ professor will be
appointed before the close of this year.

LNVH
The Dutch Network of Women Professors (LNVH) is a network, lobby and expert
organisation that aims to promote equal representation of women in the academic
community. It was established on 9th of  August 2001. At that time, only 6.5%
