Hi, I have three cable release things for my 4x5 camera. Two of them have a
pin that sticks out about 1/4” when you press on the button. The other one has
a longer pin, and I got it to go with a weird Holga pinhole camera that needed
a longer pin.
It’s lucky I have that, because suddenly the “regular” ones aren’t long enough
any more! I was photographing today, and the normal 1/4” pin cable release
worked two or three times, but then it stopped working! IT wasn’t QUITE long
enough to open the shutter. I have no idea why this suddenly happened. I went
back to the house and got the one with the extra long pin. It worked fine of
course.
I thought this might have been caused by some change due to humidity or heat,
so after the camera had been inside for a few hours, I tried again. STill no
dice with the regular cable releases. It’s as if suddenly the shutter requires
a longer pin for no particular reason.
Has this ever happened to anybody else?
