Can you tell which side is scratched? Scratches of the support or emulsion can look light because the V shape of the scratch bends light away from the optical path. The dark spots in a couple of the scratches suggest some of the emulsion was torn off leaving a clear spot. Because this is the next to the last frame it may have been scratched when loading the tank, perhaps by the end of the film. Usually longitudinal scratches caused by something in the camera run the full length of the film and appear between frames. the same with scratches caused by squeegeeing. You should not be getting streaking from the Photo-Flo. However, I suggest making a final rinse by mixing Water to make 1 liter Isopropyl alcohol, 70% (rubbing alcohol) 30ml Photo-Flo half a capful (half strength) Soak in this for a minute or two and hang up to dry without squeegeeing. Because minerals in the water can cause marks I suggest using distilled or boiled water. Much of the mineral content can be gotten out by boiling water for about 3 minutes and allowing it to cool. The minerals will be deposited on the vessel. This is why tea kettles become encrusted. In addition you can use an activated charcoal filter, like a Brita filter. Do NOT reuse the rinse solution.http://www.flickr.com/photos/shannonstoney/If you look here you will see some nasty scratches on some 120 film, running the length of the film rather than across it. Wonder how those got there? Could the reels have done it? Or my hands? It's on exposure #11. I usually don't touch the film after I photo flo it, but I might have this time. Also: I think my bottle of photo flo might be still causing streaks. I dilute it at half the dilution recommended, yet I still sometimes see streaks. Could this be because the stock solution is simply old? I can't find an expiration date on it, but I think it's pretty old.--shannon
