Not if the dimmer is for the modeling lights, but the unit needs to be fully
discharged when turned off, and that only happens when the output setting is
on 'full' beforehand.
Now, this is true for my unit, I'm not familiar with yours. Call Speedotron,
I always got good friendly service from them.
