It seems well accepted that some developer and fixer soak into the edges of the RC paper where it has been cut (how far I don't know).    I wonder if even prolonged washing would remove it.  It might be that more water immersion would send the chemicals further into the paper.  Perhaps all RC prints should be trimmed after drying.

I take you think that no chemicals are absorbed into the edges of the paper where it has been cut.
