Of my cameras, my Nikon FG is my favorite. The shutter is bad and I need to replace it. I'd like to replace it with something that is similar, but a little better is ok. :o) I like the simplicity of it, I like manual, and I like the metering system. Any suggestions?(I also have a Hasselblad and a F100, but want a simple little manual body. That's what I use most.)Thanks so much.Janet ============================================================================================================= To unsubscribe from this list, go to www.freelists.org and logon to your account (the same e-mail address and password you set-up when you subscribed,) and unsubscribe from there.
Dear Janet,FM series (the last FM-3A has also an aperture automatic exposure) and FE series (aperture automatic exposure, easily switched to manual) have a similar metering system (60% in the 12mm circle, 40% outside). The F3 models have a slightly different ratio (80%-20%). I've a pair of F3s and it's one of my favorite, a pro camera, very rugged but still compact.
Most of actual Nikon SLRs use matrix metering but still have the traditional 60%-40% metering. They're also very easy to switch back to manual exposure. If you've still a lot of manual lenses, then the last low-end bodies may not accept them easily.
Finally, the FG should be easy to find second-hand at a ridiculous price. -- Claudio Bonavolta http://www.bonavolta.ch ============================================================================================================= To unsubscribe from this list, go to www.freelists.org and logon to your account (the same e-mail address and password you set-up when you subscribed,) and unsubscribe from there.
