An F3 is a fair amount larger than an FG even before you mount an MD4 on it; the MD4 addition causes it to be quite a bit larger. In some ways this is nice, because an important part of the size difference is the larger finder (particularly on an HP), but that's not all of it. I'm rather fond of my F3, although I have some issues with it still (the viewfinder illumination is notoriously bad and I just don't like LCDs for manual metering). Regarding replacing an FG, I concur with the others, who suggest you investigate the FM series or FE series. If memory serves, the FM2 uses LED metering, the FE uses an LCD (not sure about this) and the FM3a uses match-needle metering. Graham
