Another sulphur smell that you know well is sulphur dioxide, the smell of acid fixer.

In fact, lots of smelly things contain sulphur. An example is the odorant put into domestic gas supplies to make it obvious when there is a leak. I think I read that something like one part per billion is noticeable.

The only sulphur smell I'm familiar with is Hydrogen Sulphide ! And it didn't smell like that.  It certainly wasn't an ammonia smell.
