[pure-silver] Liquid Light alternatives

Well just as I get in the mood to experiment, reality sets in.  Local stores 
are sold out of Liquid light and not sure they are going to be keeping it in 
stock.  Ordering it may solve the problem for a time, but the cost is crazy.  
Last website I checked had it going for about $25 a cup.  That even makes gas 
look cheap.

I was wondering if the experts here know of an alternative that would be easy 
enough to make myself that would be close to the same thing.

Granted there is a great deal about making sensitive emulsions that would lose 
me in a second ( and I have no desire to learn organic chemistry) but this 
photography thing was developed long before it was so technical.  Must be some 
way without buying commercial or dealing with really nasty compounds.
