Kodak are quetly committing suicide. Over here in Ireland they always had very long lead times on any order, a very limited range of products available, and premium prices. They also tend to re-brand films for different markets which can be very inefficient. For instance the standard consumer grade color print film in Germany is "farbewelt" whereas here probably the same emulsion is sold as "Ultra". I have yet to see a kodak digital camera over here. Kodak have to come to terms with the fact that special relationships with local dealerships all over the world and the marketing methods used to support them are killing Kodak. In the US the whole business of "grey market" products implies to me that there is at least one layer of corporate organization that needs to be cut out! Kodak are not alone in this. AGFA suffered from similar big corporation problems. For instance, they have what looks like a very succesfull chunk of the one hour photo market over here, who never seemed to carry any AGFA BW film products. Its marketing 101:- if the customer cant buy it it wont sell. I could, but wont go on.
