Dear Georges,

Hi !
You're right. As they state "while stock last" I think they only have "New Old Stock" remaining. They advertised the same for the 500 head last year (the fall list they published). Now, I think they're gone...

I think so too. They don´t make the good thigs any more...:-/

And you're also rigth that some times you can pick some for free. I remeber a DeVere 5x7 enlarger with dichromat head cut in two part with a machine angle grinder in order to be put in a trash.

ARGH! My heart bleeds when I hear such things. The widow of a friend threw away some really nice and rare Leica cameras from his camera collection. Two of them would have been worth about 20.000 EUR a piece, they were very rare Leica models with Compur shutter, I think Leica only made about 500 before they realised they were too expensive to make and stopped. I nearly fainted when I heard that.

Speaking to the former lab owner, he told me that the enlarger was offered for free for more than 6 month witout ONE single call ! He kept the set of lenses for him. (They had been in a wood cabinet made to purposes in order to protect them).

Well the cabinet obviously worked! Good news...:-)

If you pick one machine for free, try to choose one which was in service lastly. When let sitting with chemical residue in them, rollers, and gaskets tend to deteriorate. As they are profesional machinery, replacement parts, if availlable, tend to be _really_ expensive...

Well the Ilford I used came from the BMW photoclub, it was only idle for about 6 months. It worked very well from the beginning, but it was a lot of work to clean it (remember my ammonia scandal postings ??).

The other one I got via ebay as a spare - the guy who sold it to me also claimed he had used it a mere 6 months ago, but it had rusty rollers etc.

So things can be very different.

Love
Snoopy
