You aren't going to like this however I had exactly the same problem last
year and in the end the unit had to go back to PlexTalk and it turned out
to be a mother board faliure.
Essentially no matter what media I put in disk or card it did nothing and
the symptoms were exactly as you are experiencing.

I got the unit in midt July last year, and it indeed had the new firmware
update v. 2.01.

Hello: I don't know if this will be of any help to you, but can you
tell us when you purchased your unit as well as whether or not it has
been updated as far as the software and firmware is concerned? I can
tell you that getting them repaired in the U.S. is extremely difficult
as, last I knew, some essential parts were not available. If you happen
to be a computer user, or, know someone who is, you might want to
attempt an update. Good luck. Very quirky units. John
