Sharon,

Also, if you've not used this screen before, you will probably need to use your
Jaws cursor (or equivalent) when trying to see the results of your efforts.

Sharon,

Oops, I forgot that you will also probably have to mention the folder name as
well. Hence it should probably be:

recover x:\dir0\a000001.mp3

Cheers,

Jamie

Sharon,

The only other thing that I can suggest is to try the following but there will
be a degree of guesswork required:

1. Connect up the card reader with the card to the PC.

2. In Windows, go to the "Run" dialogue box on the Start Menu.

3. In the edit box, type in "command.com" and press the ENTER key. This
should leave you at a kind of DOS prompt.

4. Type the following:

recover X:\filename.mp3

where "X" is the drive letter of your card as far as your PC is concerned and
where the "Filename" is the guessed at filename for the MP3 file. If you only
had one file in the original recording, it is likely to be "a000001.mp3". It's
got to be worth a try anyway.

Let us know how you get on.

Jamie

Hello Jamie: We did to the search editted option in the media management
menu. That did not help. i don't have any Norton utilities software so that
is not an option.

Sharon,

Any ideas on how you lost the MP3 file in the first place? If it was
deleted accidentally, you might be able to recover it using tools like
Norton Utilities. I think I'm right in saying that Windows Recycle Bin will
not list files that have been deleted from external drives so this method
will be a non-starter.

If this isn't an option for you because you don't have software of this
type, you could possibly try putting the card back in the PTR1 and using the
"Search for Edited Information" option under the Media Management menu
option. I don't know what the effect of deleting the file on the PC will
have on this process but, if it is your last option, it's worth a try.

I should also point out that it is wise to use your mains connection when
running this process as it can sometimes take a while to run.

Hope this helps sort you out.

Jamie

Hello. We recorded something on the ptr1. Somehow when we were working with
the files in the card reader on the computer the mp3 file got lost. When you
open up the ncc file there is nothing there of course. Is there a way to
recover this file. It was not in the recycle bin.
