Hi Andrew, you wrote: > Could you compaire it to the PTR1? > I know that is a bit of an open ended question, but what does this do > that the PTR1 doesn't? The new Victor is a Daisy player with a built-in talking book oriented voice recorder. It only can do monaural recordings and it can only record onto SD cards or into the built-in memory. However, it can do one thing, which the PTR1 can't: It can copy audio bookmarks onto a flash card. So, if one has a lot of these bookmarks in memory and one wants to make a firmware update or has to send the Victor to the manufacturer, because it doesn't work right anymore, one can be relatively sure to be able to restore all the bookmarks, after the machine is working normally again. One can even put the bookmarks into the memory of another Victor. All this isn't possible on the PTR1. One can copy notes to a CD in the Daisy format with the Plextalk, but one cannot backup the bookmarks. Could this perhaps be made available in a new firmware version? The Plextalk is a Daisy and hifi recorder. The new Victor is a player with a built-in talking book oriented voice recorder. it needs around 20 seconds to boot, while the normal Plus only needs ten. So if one doesn't need the recording feature, one may be better off with a classical classic Plus or another Daisy player. Also, it may take several minutes to save a long recording on the new Victor. Humanware therefore recommends to make several shorter recordings instead of one long one. <*** Michael Lang ***> --------------------------------------------------------------------------- To leave the list at any time, please write to <ptr1-users-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> with unsubscribe ptr1-users in the subject or the body.
