Subject: [pt-education-research-network] Small teaching - a good read for
educators
Hi All;
At CSM I went to the Education and Pedagogy Consortium meeting and Sara Maher
(chair) had purchased a book for E&P Consortium members titled "Small Teaching"
by James M. Lang (Jossey-Bass publisher). We had a brief discussion related to
the book in the meeting and I put it on my "plan to read" list. I read through
it during my travels last week and dog-eared about 30 pages of great teaching
ideas that I will refer to as I prepare to teach my upcoming course.
I recommend it to anyone who is interested in making some small changes in a
lecture/class session that are grounded in learning science & theory to help
students learn. What appealed to me were the small, and reasonable, changes
that make a difference - instead of doing something like a complete class
overhaul.
