Cory,
I was just looking into some of these concepts to prepare for my continuing
education course in teaching next weekend. In my quick glance I saw some
things in the nursing literature related to psychomotor skills but nothing
in PT directly. You have probably  run into that and perhaps you will need
to look at developing something that is for PT. That may be the only part
of the study you would have to do...validate a tool!

I was wondering if anyone was familiar with a valid and reliable
measurement tool for the measurement of psychomotor learning for skills

I am interested in comparing two teaching approaches for instructing
professional PT students in spinal manipulation, but as I have reviewed the
literature I am not finding validated measures for psychomotor learning, or
validated measures for assessing self-efficacy for psychomotor skills in
the context of physical therapist patient management. Previous authors have
used rubrics, checklists, or questionnaires to measure learning. Some
authors have used devices that measure the force produced by the therapist
during spinal manual techniques.

I am wondering if I need to work on developing a measurement tool before I
compare the two teaching methods.

Thank you for your feedback.

Sincerely,
Cory
