You could try ping (ctrl-P) on different frequencies.

My setup says:
TX (2007-08-13 09:18Z): PA0R<SOH>00uPA0R:7 A8AB<EOT>
RX (2007-08-13 09:18Z):
RX (2007-08-13 09:18Z): SM0RWO<SOH>00uSM0RWO:71 06A1<EOT>
RX (2007-08-13 09:18Z):
RX (2007-08-13 09:19Z):
RX (2007-08-13 09:19Z): PI4TUE<SOH>00uPI4TUE:71 D99D<EOT>
so both servers react when I ping here.

or when you want a specific server to respond try Link, (ctrl-L):
TX (2007-08-13 09:23Z): PA0R<SOH>00uPA0R><PI4TUE 42F6<EOT>
RX (2007-08-13 09:23Z):
RX (2007-08-13 09:23Z): PI4TUE<SOH>00uPI4TUE<>PA0R 6432<EOT>

I will see what I can do with a 'link test' button on the website. It's a bit
problematic
that anyone on the internet could push the button.... Maybe a password would
do, I will think of something.
First idea is to send some bulletin when someone pushes the button...

On another topic, it is nice to be back home and see the S-meter of the FT897D
back at S0, I almost though it was stuck at S8 during last week.

Still I was able to download stuff from both servers saturday night (around
18:00 local) through
that S7-8 white noise qrm. There was quite some QSB, but that is no problem for
the protocol.
so on both servers signal strength is not the issue.

Pskmail is still wireless, so the first thing you must provide is connectivity,
i.e. you must hear the server and
the server must hear you. One thing which helps me a lot on 80 meters at home
is a little MFJ-1025 box,
which has a separate noise cancelling antenna connected to it. Maybe something
also for you Wolf, works great when you have a single noise source. On 160m I
can completely cancel the mains noise here.

We will soon build an 80meter server at PA0SON with an NVIS antenna. My OMNI VI
plus has been repaired so we will put it into service on 80 meters.

Rein PA0R
