Hello John and group.

I have had fine results with 5 watts tx from the mobile via hamstick from upstate NY USA to North Carolina KB2PNM server. I mainly use PSK 250 since we're seeing such good conditions. I have also set up a server here but I need to get the antenna right, it is still not quite right but is running ok on 10watts. I was seeing the server here on KB2PNM's log but that seems to have gone offline a day or two ago. I am hearing KB2PNM server from daylight to a few hours after dusk. Pretty much solid all day long. Very nice. I would like to know what antenna is being used there as it seems extremely effective. I sometimes hear the Chigago area servers but I think one has been offline and the other is on different bands along with 30 meters.

As a final thought, does anyone know where ssb operations are occurring dead on 10.147 USB? I hear spanish folks really chatting it up in the afternoon- late afternoon times. They are pretty weak most of the time so don't seem to interfere so much. I guess I'm just curious...

I don't have a Hamstick unfortunately, so I don't know how good they are compared to a long wire antenna for example, but I know that with a long wire I have been able to get 100% hits on my server from 70 to 500miles away with 5 watts.

So you have done very well with your setup.

Which modes do you tend to use for that distance and at what time of the day?

Great to hear from your experience. May I bother you by asking if you mind posting your set-up and results in the Pskmail list to share with other users?

All the best,
