Just to keep you informed of the progress since I have not posted updates for a while. The majority of the recent efforts were directed at re-coding, debugging and optimizing the MFSK and THOR modems for the Java platforms, with the debugging and benchmarking against Fldigi taking most of the time unfortunately. This is now behind us and we have a nice set of very robust modems running on Android (and PC for that matter). There has been some compromises necessary on the Android platform in terms of filtering since the phone's CPU would struggle with the full blown processing, but the robustness is not too far off the real thing so I am very happy with the results. I managed in the mean time to add automatic beaconning and auto-linking at set intervals. With the built-in GPS of the Android devices that is a nice handy feature in my view. I will add the automatic control of the Bluetooth interface (auto-on/off and auto-connect to the Bluetooth interface). A bit of code clean-up on top of this and I think we will have a nice first Beta version for release. Some work will then be needed I think for the visual aspect on tablets as this was designed with phone screens in mind. So stay tuned please... Best 73, John (VK2ETA)
