[G3NRW: My comments interleaved below]

Hi Ian,

there could be several reasons....
* The servers on 10147000 are run by Intermar e.v., and we don't know what software they are running

[G3NRW: I was trying to connect to HB9XQ-30, which is on 10148, not 10147. Does this mean that this is not an Intermar server?]

* The last time we had contact with Intermar they were running server-0.3, we use 1.0.28. * The Intermar servers run PSK250 by default, which is inferior to PSK500R which uses FEC and interleave

[G3NRW: HB9XQ-30 was indeed on PSK250, as stated in the page of servers].

* The Intermar servers do not support Mail and web access on 30m, as a matter of policy
* To use Intermar servers you have to set Mode->Servermode to PSK250

The servers on 10148000 run PSK500R, and they are all running the latest server software.

[G3NRW: But HB9XQ-30 on 10148 runs PSK250]

I tried connecting to OH9RHF on 10147000 using PSK250, and got connected immediately.

[G3NRW: I am confused. The server listing says the frequency is 10148].

Unfortunately OH9RHF has set max. retries too low, so I am disconnected again before
I can finish a  ~GETWWV.

To be sure you are testing the right stuff, you could try connecting SM0RWO on 10147000,

[G3NRW: Now I am really confused. Do you means 10147 TX center freq or 10147 dial freq?]

for the frequency table see http://pskmail.wikispaces.com/PSKmailservers

[G3NRW: Can you confirm that *all* the frequencies in the tables are on-air center frequencies?]

I can work SM0RWO on 30m during daytime. You ma be too close to PI4TUE...
You can see what SM0RWO is receiving by looking at http://www.crusefalk.se/gmfsk/index.php?lines=30&refresh=20

Rein PA0R

[G3NRW: Quite apart from the above, my original fundamental question remains. There appears to be no attempt to connect after pressing the "Connect" button. Absolutely nothing happens. Nothing is transmitted. Should there be a message saying "Connect in progress" or something similar?]

WinXP
fldigi 3.20.32
jPSKmail 0.8.5 Mk-II
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Still baby steps.
I have tried connecting to HB9XQ-30 on 30m without success -- I click on
"Connect", but nothing happens.
But when I send an APRS beacon, or call CQ, HB9XQ-30 immediately
acknowledges my signal with "QSL" (the server is very strong here at the
moment).
Why can't I connect to the server?
