Just wanted to add that I have performed some tests here.
I sent pskaprs email to myself using two laptops back to back.

Lubuntu 12.04 with server 2.0.8:
pskaprs email sent through smtp gmail is fine.

Lubuntu 12.10 with server 2.0.8:
Server receives ok but fails to send message through gmail smtp.
Server complains about invalid SSL version.

So, do not use x/l/k/whatever/ubuntu 12.10 on the server just now.
Use 12.04.

Hi Glenn,

Lubuntu is the way to go, I can only agree there. Trouble is this issue is related to 12.10 so I would think it affects x/l/k/ubuntu or other versions the same way. Lubuntu 12.10 should have this. My bench test server is running lubuntu 12.04 and it is fine. Mail went right through it and gmail just now. I have now started to "upgrade" to 12.10 and I will retest when that is done. It will take a while, it is an ancient P3-600...(I have no other use for that laptop so it's perfect for these tests).

Thanks Per for that info. Just yesterday I dumped Ubuntu on my server computer and at Rein's suggestion I changed over to Lubuntu. The laptop that I use for the server is an older model and not the fastest PC. I noticed that after changing to Lubuntu it flies! So far it is working flawlessly and I am able to leave local mail on other servers.

    Hi all,

Servers that are running on Ubuntu 12.10 and rely on gmail for
smtp may find something like this in the server log: "invalid
    SSL_version specified at /usr/share/perl5/IO/Socket/SSL.pm line 332".
Seems likely this is caused by an upgraded IO::Socket::SSL in
Ubuntu 12.10, it should not break things but seems like it does
here. Servers running on 12.10 that are using gmail for smtp will
not be able to send messages with this issue. My bench test
server is running 12.04 now and I will test that server with both
versions of Ubuntu and try to find a fix. But, quick fix should
    be to stay on 12.04.
