The wiki is yours...

We are spending our last day here in Spain... The stay has been very nice, and
I can see a big improvement of the pskmail network compared to last year. Then
I could
only work PSK125 through SM0RWO and sometimes PI4TUE; this year
I got 2 QSL's on my beacons from different servers, depending on time of day.
And I could always connect at least one server during the daytime. This until
we were joint
by a Swiss couple 2 days ago. The have a brand new camper and as soon as they
hooked it up
to the mains I had S9 noise. Looks like their charger has no mains filter. I
did not make
too much fuzz about it as we are leaving tomorrow morning anyway. The deal is
that they
unplug their camper between 16:00 and 20:00. Obviously the 100k Euro camper
does not
have a switch to de-engage the charger...

One thing I have learned during our stay this year is that we probably have to
separate
APRS beaconing and messaging from connection-oriented traffic. First idea is to
provide a mechanism to qsy the server to a free qrg after the first connect,
and send
it back to the calling frequency after the session is closed.

I will concentrate on renewing the source code from now on, and use the
Subversion system
for that. Per is working on a document which will clearly specify the Network
Access and
timing issues. It would be nice if we had people who 'champion' a certain
distribution, so
I don't have to spend my time on that. Puppy cost me at least 6 month
developing time
(although it was probably worth it). To sort out all the requirements and perl
modules
takes loads of time, mainly for testing.

We will be back home (cold, rainy) on thursday, 2 mtrs APRS on PA0R-2 during
the trip.

Rein EA/PA0R/P
