One more thought: if you don't even have (or don't want to use) USB either, the 
non-USB SignaLink ones connect to your computer's audio ONLY - keying is done 
by a VOX-like circuit built in to the interface, hence no need for a com port. 
Even the SignaLink USB has this built-in VOX. The USB is just for the audio - 
there is no USB-to-com involved.
