Handling of Mode switching using RSID in PSKmail[https://www.facebook.com/groups/109994412353261/doc/264135596939141/] The PSKmail server measures the quality of up- and downlinks separately, and decides which mode will be best for sending the next frame on server and client. It uses RSID signalling to force the client into a new listening mode. As RSID signalling takes valuable time away from the link, it is only used when absolutely necessary, i.e. in those cases when the server changes its TX mode without explicitly telling the client... For the same reason, in case the link is unconnected (idle), RSID is used on the client only in case it wants to use a mode different from the default link mode. The default mode in Europe is PSK500R, in USA it is PSK250. This behaviour makes it necessary to not only control the modes but also the status of RxID and TxID on both client and server. In case the link is idle: Default modes on client and server = PSK500R client RxID=OFF, server RxID=ON, so client can connect in other mode client TXID=OFF, server TxID=ON During a connected session: Modes are set by the server client RxID=ON, server RxID=OFF, so incoming TxID's from qrm are dead client TXID=OFF, server TXID=OFF, and ON when mode switching. This way we gain 1 second of link time per frame... Rein PA0R -- http://pa0r.blogspirit.com
