The problem should really be solved inside fldigi. Maybe by adding
<cmd><squelch>ON</squelch><cmd> capability to arq-io.cxx

I notice that at times fldigi sql gets disabled (possibly after thor
modes?) and FILLS the log with garbage.. Is there some setting to have
this re-enabled after pskmail_server disables it or by default? (if it
is the one doing it) or is there some other solution?

Just tried the setting I should avoid, set squelch open after RSID to 0.
Works fine so far, squelch is on all the time :).
