I certainly thought that the clean metal look didn't suit the style of the books, it's supposed to be a world where the world was torn apart and people are scavenging supplies from the remains of the old world, as a result I don't think there would be much freshly forged steel around. Just my opinion. The yellow outline was just a tester for the font, I could probably find a way to emboss it if required. The "Highway Holocaust" font was another I just grabbed off my system. I agree that it's not as readable, but didn't want to invest much time in trying to find a replacement just for the mockup. I wasn't too keen on the font used on the text in the original, it just shouted "The A-Team" ;) If you think that an updated mockup, with the section allocated for the page number, the background from the second version, an embossed Freeway Warrior and a better font for the book would be worth doing, then I could try and create something like that.
