Ben are you not confusing two things there?

It's just that when you say "because at a minimum they had to use Helshezag to fight Darklord Gnaag and probably lost a hefty amount of EP that way" that makes me think you're not restoring your EPs to the original level at the end of the book, before carrying them forward to the next?

Personally I never have had a problem with the "add 25 and 30 to your RNT picks" thing from Book 13 onwards - I know I'm not missing out, cos while new players get those perks, I get the Sommerswerd, all the Lore Circles, Psi-surge, Weaponmastery, all my stash od Alether etc etc. New players have to manage without any of that!

Ah, this old chestnut indeed. The big problem is, someone who started the
series anywhere in books 5-12 is at a serious disadvantage, because at a
minimum they had to use Helshezag to fight Darklord Gnaag and probably lost
a hefty amount of EP that way. Not to mention that Helshezag would likewise
be the only weapon that would give them a significant CS boost, so if they
wanted to have a CS anywhere near what a new player would get, time to lose
more EP.

I was always a fan of adding 10 to CS and subtracting 1 from EP when
starting 13tplor to even things up.

Hi all

Over on the forum is a post about something we intend to alter for the next release of Book 13, specifically the hoary old chestnut about re-picking stats when transitioning from Book 12 -> 13. Since you don;t repick your starts in transitioning from Book 1 -> 2 (just in case you might get better numbers), it seems obvious to me that you do NOT re-pick stats, but some feel otherwise.

Anyone want to field a reply/response? Are we happy with the changes we intend to make? Am currently laid low with a very unpleasant bug, so I'll leave it in the capable hands of the rest of the PA staff! ;-)
