So the initial problem with a pressure floor with traps is, "how will the
player know what is safe?"
Well, I thought of an amusing idea.  When the player enters the temple there
is a stand with an object on it, upon inspection you see that it is circular
and has 4 different colored lights on it that flash in a sequence.

That sequence is the same pattern you must take.

Simon says, anyone?

Means we will need four different colored blocks for this method.  Red,
green, blue, yellow.
