what to install for 2005, once i google the right order to uninstall and
ask
my lecturer once i have got vs 2008 uninstalled in the right oreder, then
check in control panel, then might do a search on my computer for any vs
2008, and any vs 2005 modules left, then hopefully uninstall them.

each project, then copy and paste the code or save it as text files, in

same folder, so then can go and get them and rebuild, or put them in a
special folder.
okay, then that will be quicker, well, chapter 1, 2, 3, for the exercises
and the case studies, and then examples for chapter 4 to 14, and i think,
i
will probably have to rebuild the web application as well.
and in the class exercises, the lecturer did not cover vwd, not
necessary,
or not essential for the course.
and okay, will then recopy my assignments, tests, practice test and in
class
exercises, as had converted them to 2008, so can then have the 2005
versions.

I do not tthink removing the Language Modules will be a problem so long
as
you get rid of everything related to them correctly. Getting rid of the
2008
Sql Server DataBase Modules, and any old 2005 Sql Server Modules that
might
impact your clean download might be a little more tricky though. I think
you
need to UnInstall them in the proper order or you might end up with some
problems. I do not remember the correct order. You can Google on the
correct
procedure to UnInstall the Language Modules and the Sql Server Modules.
Once
you get your machine clean, and you will have to check in the Control
Panel
to make sure all modules are removed against a list of modules to be
removed
from your research, you can likely copy and paste your vb code into the
appropriate text editor if you name the controls the same as the original
project. I think you might have to rebuild the controls except the VWD
controls which are standard html and MS thingys that might be ok. That's
about the best I can figure out. It sounds like something to do carefully
and might take some time even if all goes well getting set up. Good luck,

like some of the sql databases that i got off the net, for the book, off

got 2008, was that i did not have internet access, and a adaptive tech
person, who sold me jaws in tasmania, burned a copy of vs 2008 in the

place, even though i did request 2005.

If that's the case he has a problem. My guess he will have to remove the
2008 modules, and then load up some version of 2005. I remember he also
was
messing with the DataBases so that might be problematic as well
depending
on
which version he ended up using. The last thing I can think of is that
he
uses Access DataBases instead of the Sql Server DataBases as defined in
his
Projects and that might cause problems for his Instructor as well if he
is
not familiar with their setup and use. My guess the only way he is going
to
get it working is to work directly with his Instructor to match up the
versions of everything if he is to just send him a Project to load up
and
review per the original Course and Project requirements. I don't think I
have any answers except to find out what his Instructor recommends.
Sounds
like he will have to uninstall everything 2008 including the DataBase
systems. Then install everything that came with the original course and
ReWrite his applications using the correct languages and DataBases if he
wants to be in sync with the rest of the class. Other than that I
wouldn't
recommend doing all that removing and ReInstallation as it might cause
some
real headaches if not done in the correct order.

I think, if I have it straight, that his instructor is using VB 2005,
and
can't open the files he is making in 2008, backwards compatibility is
alright in general with MS, but the reverse usually doesn't work, and I
do
not believe MS has made anything akin to the "MSO Viewers" that enable
folks to open and save a newer version of say a word document in an
older
format so someone with the older office versions can use it.

problem you could not resolve in 2008?
Were you having the problem in VWD or in Vb.net Winforms?
What statement was giving you the error which your instructor said was
due to the language version problem?
I really do not think the language version would cause you any
problems
unless you are copying and pasting code into a config file. So, tell
me
what statement is not working so I can check it out.

Your instructor is a fool. They should work fine in 2008. There is
not
that big a language wise in VB .net 2005 and 2008. The errors your
