Hi Guys:
He has vb.net 2008 on his machine and wants to load up 2005. Not at all sure about it but I do know Visual Studio does some version checking. I ran into this problem messing with some IIS thingys some time ago. It could be he has to completely uninstall everything 2008, at least the programming languages not the DataBase, before he can go back and install a prior version of any of the 2005 Visual Studio Express packages.
Does this sound reasonable?
You guys are right though, I do not think any of his problems are related to the version he is running.I am running VWD 2008 and Visual Studio 2005 on one machine with no problems so my guess he is doing something wrong but can't tell without being there. I would not recommend doing all that ReLoading of the modules just in case he can't get 2008 back up if he messes up his Registry or other files MS does not remove etc...
But, it is up to him and his instructor.

Then he is doing something really weird. The fact is I have moved lots of
programs over from things I have ben playing with now that I have 2008 and
nothing has had problems.

Your instructor is a fool. They should work fine in 2008. There is not
that big a language wise in VB .net 2005 and 2008. The errors your having
are most likely typing errors.

Hi.
got a whole heap of examples, for my programming class, exercises,a nd did
them in vb dot net 2005.
but converted them to all vb dot net 2008, but some of them are not working
and got errors.
did e-mail my lecturer, and he says, that the book they are using in class
is for vb dot net 2005, and i am using 2008.
so, where can i download vb dot net 2005 express, and also is there a
conversion utility to convert from vb.dot net 2008 to 2005, as a whole of a
lot of exercises i did for the chapter book examples and some of the
exercises and case studies, in vb dot net 2008, and do not have time to go
and recreate them in vb dot net 2005, if i can get my hands on a copy?
have tried searching on google, and went to the msdn site, but tried
looking, but cannot find any thing at all.
got any ideas?
cheers Marvin.
