strange problem with my stereo settings when I play tracks

many of the stereo tracks I play on my computer, the background vocles do not
show up. A few minutes ago I made a test CD of the tracks which did not have
that effect properly on my computer and played it on my regular stereo CD
player, and it worked! Background singers came through loud and clear on my
regular CD player, but not on my computer. Is something wrong going on with my
sigma tel audio?
