I thought the Vinux console was capable of using cut and paste using SpeakUp key bindings. I think they are the slash (/) and star (*)keys on the NumPad.

I use cut and paste all of the time between windows and Vinux gnome windows. In a gnome terminal window, you will also need to hold down the Shift key, such as Control + Shift + V, to paste. It also works with files in the File Browser.

I had VMWare tools installed, but VMWare did not support copy/paste from the
text console.
At work I often need to copy output from the shell and paste it into a app
running in Windows.
Cygwin allows me to do this.

Vinux 3.0 is a different world entirely. You will also have to install vm
tools to get copy papist to work but I don't use that I stay in the shell.

I have not tried the latest Vinux and VMWare Player.
I used Vinux 2.0 in VMWare 2.5 with Speakup and BRLTTY.
Very nice indeed, but copy/paste from and to the Vinux did not work.
VMWare did not support copy/paste from the Linux console.
To get copy/paste to work X and GDM was required.

If only Orca were better...
I'd switch to Linux as my primary OS.
The Linux console is very accessible with Speakup and BRLTTY, but I find
Orca and GNOME very cumbersome.
But that's my opinion.
Though I have not used Orca with GNOME 2.30.

You must be using windows 7 64 that is when Jaws shits the bed. I will say after I complained they fixed ssh some the only problem it has repeating now is when you delete characters on a line. If you want to get rid of all that
and go to a real good shell there are only two ways.

1) Vinux and switch to speakup window using control-alt -f2 This will
give you a shell that is awesome because its speakup if you were an asap
user it's just as good.

2) Mac using the mac is weird but very accessible at the shell.

There are no other solutions that track the curser as well even the putty
users will tell you to do things like clear the screen or stand on your head
drinking a beer while doing an ls and don't forget to pray to Thor the god
of war and Os's.

Hi Ken,

When you use Cygwin, does it keep repeating the whole screen as Putty does?
If not, I might just have to try it.

I don't know how you folks use putty I think it sucks. Of course that's
just my opinion. I use ssh in cygwin if you install all packages it comes
with it. Then if I want to use ssh in windows I just make a path to the
cygwin/bin and I am all set. This also give s you full access to the Linux tools from command line. Of course now with Vinux out I am using vm player
and Vinux and speakup so that I can even block and copy in the shell much
easier than using screen. Of course I am a real command line nerd I am as
comfortable in linux command line as I was with MsDos in the mid 90's I
skipped over win 3.1, all the way to 98 which was my first windows
environment.

Again ssh cygwin is much better than putty.

well, now I have the source but it won't compile.

This is getting to be very annoying.

Suggestions welcome.

Amyone know the file dependencies? Oh I guess I'll dig through the
makefiles. But that shouldn't be necessary...

I know, I tried ssh, ssh1, ssh2, openssh, Openssh, etc etc. (Now
that would be funny if "etc" worked...*smile*)

It isn't installed. I just have to find where to download it. The
download page is a little cryptic.

Hi all --

My needs are simple: I need a workable ssh client to

I feel like I'm going crazy. I looked for openssh

which led me to winscp, which sounded like what I
wanted, but I can't get

it

into a state I can work with. What I'd really like
is not something like

telnet or sftp, but rather a bash shell that I can
run remotely.

I haven't done this in a while and need someone to
jog my memory as to

what

tools are best for doing this. I understand that
MSYS and MinGW have an

ssh

command that works, but I have MSYS set up and it
can't find ssh. I also

have cygwin set up, bu it also has no ssh.

I considered putty, but thought I'd ask the list
first. How many trees do

I

have to bark at before I find the right command?
Someone please post a

note. Thanks in advance!
