Pity there's no way to fool that sensor.

Otherwise, you might try seeing if you could get your hands on an
older trashed out model and grab the part from the bottom that the
sensor on the monitor is meant to interface with as it descends.
Could trick it into turning off by attaching the salvaged part near
the monitor's sensor with a bit of tape or something if that were
possible.
