The new one is able to send to a projector, but I think it wants something plugged in. Someone was selling something for around $50 US not including shipping called a battery saver, I might just try a VGA cable and see how that goes. ----- Original Message ----- From: "The Elf" <inthaneelf@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

yes it will, but you have to make sure the thing actually is off, not just thinking it is

doesn't the new one have the external video ability, I remember you mentioning the whole thing before, but didn't have a good answer so let it pass by.

and Laura, yes it will go into some other state when you close the lid, if you leave the settings at default. none of my LT or smaller computers shut down or go into sleep or hibernation when I shut the lid anymore, because I don't want that so changed it in power options, if I remember right in the advanced tab (this is my standard set up so only change it once)

It does make a difference if you can turn it off. the backlight and screen uses quite a lot. It makes a huge difference on this Toshiba.
