This is fairly simple to do in wpf (.net) where you can set a control
template to be just about anything. You may actually find some or all of
these kinds of buttons out of the box as well.
If you google for how to change a button's control template in wpf, you
should get plenty of answers.

Subject: .net or java, creating buttons shaped differently then usual

Hi,

I am working on a little side project which requires me to create a
cross-shaped, square-shaped, rectangle-shaped, heart-shaped and
diamond-shaped button.
Is this doable using code in either java or .net languages? I wouldn't know
how except maybe to set an image as the button's shape but I don't know if
this can be done. Anyone experience with things like this ?
