I think this is to do with the new virtual cursor setting introduced in JAWS 9. Try setting select and copy to from virtual cursor. You can do this in Internet Explorer and by pressing JAWS key v. -- Chris Hallsworth e-mail: christopherh40@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx MSN: ch9675@xxxxxxxxxxx Skype: chrishallsworth7266 ----- Original Message ----- From: "tribble" <lauraeaves@xxxxxxxxx> To: <blind-windows@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>; "bprogramming" <programmingblind@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Saturday, March 07, 2009 9:09 PM Subject: lockups and hard resets Hi all -- I am using jaws10 on XP Pro with the following apps running: OE, IE, Word2003 with 2 documents open. I have been jumping around copying and pasting paragraphs and things into my documents -- things that I would think are fairly safe, but for some reason windows is locking up on some paste operations (I can't reproduce the problem, but it happens intermittently). The copied text is only a paragraph from a web page, and the destination is an open Word document, and when I try killing the apps in volved, everything else will die but the source webpage and the open word doc, and I end up needing to do a hard reset to free up the machine. After holding down the power button it shuts off, but when I started up just a while ago the problem was still there when I got on -- something was really constipating windows (excuse the terminology but that's what I think of windows process management right now). I tried calling up the start menu a bunch of ways to shut down gracefully but I could not get the start menu to pop up. In fact, almost anything I tried didn't work, and everything took 10-30 seconds to respond, if at all. So I pressed the power button again and it finally restarted and the problem is for now gone. Is there a known reason this could be happening? Is anyone else locking up under the same circumstances? For a while this morning I was afraid I had hardware failure. Ideas welcome.
