because some time is so hard to modify something...
Look for example the del 1525 laptop.
it comes with freedos
and the manufacturer offers only vista drivers.

hi,

what do most blind people do to navigate life?
they find different ways to do something the sighted just look at visually.

Don't worry about what brand of computer.
compare the specs without thinking of what operating system unless 64 bit is a factor. if you find one you really like but it comes with vista, don't bitch, spend about $65 to get a real copy of windows xp pro.
i wouldn't think i had to say this.
i don't know why people get hung up on worrying about modifying what they buy.

HI Tyler,

If you really insist, you can still get notebook computers with Windows XP
Pro on them. A decent computer is well within your price range.

Acer and a few other companies make computers that will do fine for what you
need.

Sorry I can't help more, but the only store I deal with is here in Oshawa
Ontario.

Good luck.

Hello list,
I'm in the market for a new laptop.
My max price range is about 1100. I'm not totally sure what I need; of
course I'm looking for the best deal, but I also need something that Jaws
will work on.
From what I've heard, jaws does not work on 64-bit vista; are there still
laptops shipped with 32 bit, or even better XP?
I know a lot of the computer companies started sending everything with
vista.
I've also seen things like 60 day trials and etc on vista; am I going to
have to purchase a full copy after I get the laptop?

Thanks,
Tyler Littlefield
